What needs to be prepared before painters come out?
All small items and breakables need to be removed off of counters and tables. All hanging pictures need to be removed. All clutter on the floors need to be removed.
What do the painters do when they get to my house?
We pack into the house our materials. We move the furniture so we can get at the walls and ceilings. We cover the floors with tarps and all furniture with plastic before we begin.
What is the process for painting?
When all the floors and furniture have been covered we start patching. All nail holes and stress fractures need to be dug out and filled in and sanded. Then se start on the ceilings and trim and then finally the wall colors.
CREATIVITY
What decorating ideas would be helpful?
There are some simple things that will help you with the decorating. Get rid of the clutter. That seems to be pretty basic but it is the extra nick nacks and brick brack that makes the clutter. Cherish your possessions but in a different room behind closed doors.
Simple shapes are a must.
By gone are the days of elaborate floral motifs and candelabras with glittery gold leaf and antiquing. The new shapes are simpler but still refined. The look is fresh but cozy.
The eclectic mix is definitely in!
We love to bring in different elements from different periods. There is no divisions anymore. But the look is still a balance of new and old, rustic and sharp, contemporary and classic.
